How My Journey Began
-
I have to go back to the canyon—to the place where I can now see God was already preparing the path ahead before I knew I would need it.
I’ll tell that story in my book.
-
In March 2018, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), hormone receptor–positive and HER2–negative, with regional lymph node involvement.
The diagnosis came suddenly, and like anyone hearing those words, I was frightened.
-
I met with an oncologist, a radiologist, and a surgeon the day after I received a call from my physician.
I was told I would need chemotherapy, radiation, and a surgery.
-
An acquaintance of my husband’s told us about a man named Chris Wark, who had faced cancer using a holistic approach.
I began watching testimony after testimony.
For the first time since my diagnosis, I felt fear beginning to loosen its grip.
-
Today, I”m more than eight years beyond my diagnosis. Looking back, I see God’s providence woven throughout the entire journey.
At about the 5 year mark on my journey, I began compiling my notes from journaling into a book because I needed and wanted a way to help others on this path.
One question kept coming up:
“What did you do?”
That question eventually became the insporation for writing Fear Came Knocking.
-
My journey didn’t end with my diagnosis—and yours doesn’t have to either. We can continue learning together.
I’ll continue sharing recipes, gardening adventures, books I’ve found helpful, nad lessons the Lord continues to teach me.
I hope you’ll walk this journey with me.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
—Proverbs 3:5-8 (ESV)
